537 56th Street
2003. 54" x 15" x 9". Acrylic, halogen lights, painted steel.

The work above symbolizes a few things. Four halogen lights represent four family members that live at 537 56th Street which is at the center of the topology. The color of the topology is translucent white, which could symbolize snow or purity. The "golden section", famous in ancient Greek architecture for it's perfect proportions, is used to stabilize the base.

These sculptures are based on the elevation lines of specific places. Topographic maps provide a starting point, then imagination, technique, materials, and light take over.Light plays a key role and is projected through translucent layers.
